What do you use? your real name, first name or pen name in directory submission? For directory owners, if i use webmaster as my name, are you hesitant in approving my links? Sometimes, I just dont feel like using my full name.
I guess it doesn't really make any difference. I use only my first name. It will be interesting to know what the directory owners say in this regard.
It does makes difference, now i require submitters to put their full name. But... the more i think about it, the more i think it's wrong, cause there are so many seo submissions services out there, i'm not even sure that the guy who submitted a site is its owner. What i don't like is fancy-freaking-nomeaning-nicknames. They would never submit to yahoo or DMOZ using such names if they had the opportunity !!!
I use and only ask for First Name only when someone submits to my directory, Linkspub. I figured that people could be hesitant in giving their full names, so I made it where it asks for your first name only. Plus its 1 word less to type.
I don't think the directory owner will check what name you submit. al l they care about the site you submit
I use fake name/address/telephone number if required... There is really no need to require the above information, if i supply my address are you going to send me a xmas card? What does my name mean to a directory owner, why should they be bothered? What do you want my telephone number for, are you going to ring me about my submission?
Well, a name or nickname is nice to have just to address email notifications when processing submissions, but beyond that, I really don't see any need for personal information from a directory (with the exception of those processing credit cards on their own merchant account - then there is an obvious need).
I prefer to use the domain name in place of my own. Some of the sites I promote are not mine and may belong to a corporation or other entity besides an individual who may not remain at the company.
