But the way I see it, the Democrats have 2 years to demonstrate competence. If they don't and the Republicans don't continue to scew up, this will just be a temporary majority.

Let's let them have their chance to prove themselves. If his belief in Islam interfers with doing his job then Muslims are going to have a hard time getting elected in the future. If he manages to do his job well then I don't think there's much reason to fuss over him being Muslim.
