Im a month into my first attempt. - very suprised that ive actually earnt some cash. (not much) - soon i will break the $1 barrier ... bwwaahhahaaa! ( i figure if i can cover the $10 hosting costs, these past few months buggering about learning PHP SEO etc etc wont be wasted!) * Is the traffic random, or did my keyword actually get them what they wanted. I have one affliate for sales, and got commission, so i guess i have 1 satisfied punter at least! - in fact $2! hoorah! im wondering if i should give my affiliate more attention than adsense? * Some days i get say 80 impressions and not a single bloody click. maybe i either need to trick the visitors better, or actually try to get them to 'surf' my websote for a bit. (it is after all VAGUELY interesting, on a rainy day when the TV set is bust) * I also wonder if the click cash from google was 'by mistake' ie: i have blended the google ads too well. I guess if an ad is relevant, then thats ok. I do feel a bit devious trying to trick the punters. * Ive gone for a very large site, spawned from a dataset or 5. *i have google adsense spidering more or less 24/7 for last few weeks. (will it raise a flag in google? - every page IS unique, if a bit repetitous) * I added the google content search in the assumption that the more google gizmos i threw into my pages, the more google will favor my site (not so mch pagerank - just getting the pages indexed).. even though google say it has no effect.. surely one spider can share data with the SEO spider? * I set my sitemaps to 1 month changes and 0.5 importance. I dont want to raise any flags with the robots! - it seems from the reports graph that the spider had indeed monthly peaks of spidering, although it says it avg's 1000 pages a day. so far i have 25,000 pages indexed in google. Of course i have not tailored the pages exactly how i want them, but i had to start somewhere. Its a work in progress. I have about 3 million+ pages in my database. You will probably roll your eyes (not another one of those types)... I wonder if i have 'over egged the pudding', - overdone it a bit. Do you think google will draw the line at say 60,000 indexed pages..? * so far i have 25,000 pages in google index ( all with VERY low page ranking!) - but of course one line of code can change these 25,000 into a different page. Again, i want to play it safe and fair with google.. (i think) Anyway. now the framework is there, i guess i have to optimise the site.. make it pretty etc, cut the download speed ( the php script was written in 2 nights with about 2 jars of instant coffee and 500 lines of code ... but ive redone a beta in 100 lines and cut the kb size. * im also planning on changing the page content in that i basically laid out the website with links to every sub section and page, so that every page is linked to.. ie no orphans. Now im thinking it isnt going to function as a real website cos its too damn ugly. I wonder if google will mind that the next time it visits all 3 million pages have utterly different links on the pages ? Its a risk im going to take, better now with 25,000 pages in the books, rather than a few mill - (assuming google doesnt stop spidering) my rationale is.. although its a huge site, i would like it to be interesting for even the people that got conned into coming to my website. Im also wondering if i should repeat this framework with another website, but this time change the keyword/theme. would google smell a rat? notes to myself really. wondering if i should have found a smaller niche, eg: asbestos lawyers, sue the bastard.com stuff. ie: straight for the high pay clicks. this is more of a blog entry, but any feedback greatly appreciated. It seems i have only the US market getting to my site.. no clicks till the US wakes up... hmm... maybe a multilingual site? oops seems i can rate my own posts. hoorah! although i do apologise. however, i guess that sums up my adsense quest in a nutshell. I got you here, but how can i make you click an advert or two!?

I just enjoyed reading that post....lol Maybe you should complete your blog and publish it....tell you story of rags to riches....hehehehehe Anyway, good luck with it, I'm sure it'll all work out and you'll be driving your 911 in no time.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I actually broke the $1 barrier yesterday... by 1 cent!!! not sure if this image link works. This is really rather fun! like playing one of the penny arcade games at the seaside as a kid! roll on $2!!!! - site optimization going ahead, turning the utterly blended mess into a real website. I expect half the click are from folk not knowing where the hell to click. time to get another coffee ready, its going to be a long night. $1 a day, that really is great! lol! pays for my hosting in a week! great forum this, some awesome designers here. that draw a pig website is just genius. cheers
first 'big' click payout today - $0.90 with 30 impressions and just 1-click! starting to make the late nights, coffee and cigs worth it. even if its just for fun at the moment. was a bit disheartened after the monthly maintenance, as i didnt get a single click since then. im wondering if this figure is an accumulated figure for yesterday. i like this!
captains log: today is a red letter day, not only have i SMASHED the $1 a day barrier... i did it today in 4 clicks worth! And I still have the USA to get home and start surfing. I hope its raining there... today: $1.38 let the good times roll! I might upgrade my instant brand coffee in celebration! however, my impressions have fallen sharply since the brown out last weekend... but my click values have gone up!
sandbox sandbox. traffic gone doooown. disaster. oh well, onto project 2. and link building phase for project 1. must escape the sandbox
4 clicks now $0.08 total .. very odd, i used to get avg 20c+ a click!!! kingusa.. thanks, im redesigned the website, i expect it to go 'live' maybe by wednesday... the interesting thing for me will be : the old site (ie: the one live now) is designed incredibly crudely, ugly links everywhere that look just like adsense blocks... it loads on the fly, so half the page loads at the bottom, then the side, etc.. the new one wont have such disguised adverts, its much prettier... so i guess i will see how much of my $20 (whoohoo) total came from mistake clicks lol!
$1.36 in 10 clicks while i slept! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxwCCdTGvOM&NR=1 this is fun! now for the $2 barrier!
