This may be less of "your fault" and more of the fault of yahoo. Yahoo gives MUCH importance to domain name, so if your keyword isn't in your domain name than sites with the keyword in their domain might be moving your site out of the rankings.
If you are willing to trade the ranking from Yahoo to Google then may considering this suggestions. 1. Build links with quality over quantity. 2. Relative links is a big plus, Links from authority website is a biggest plus 3. Add fresh content regularly and do not worry with all on-page factors. Yahoo does like optimal on-page factor and contents while Google doesn't that much. If you made this change, your ranking in Yahoo will be dropped while the Google "might" increase up a bit.
Submit your site to Social Bookmarking sites so that you will get backlinks abd yes Yahoo answer is a good idea!

Yahoo looks to rank things with onpage seo heavier than google, which primarily focuses on off page seo (backlinks) which are essentially votes for a website. This helps leverage the users vs a directory, which is what bing and yahoo are closer to in terms of leveraging a community.
On my opinion Yahoo is giving more power to the domain name than Google. Of course there are many other factors...
Search for any term and you will see that domains with the term in them get ranked higher, most of the time.
Can anybody speak english? I'm just curious as to the specifics in the differences between both algorithms. Clearly, I'm doing fine with Google but what must I focus on with Yahoo?
