First Impressions on my Robotics Blog

I have a robotics blog.
My main interests are what your first impressions about the design are. Do you think "I want to leave." or "I want to stay and read / possibly bookmark or subscribe to the RSS feed."? What made you think this?

As far as content goes: Do you like my writing style? If you do, what aspects do you like. If you don't, what should I change to make you happy as my reader?

I think its a little plain at the moment. Maybe also try use a circuit background. Will give it a moe technical feel.

 

I'm confused about what you mean because there is already a circuit background. Do you mean over the whole thing?

Maybe adding a more "robotic" design at the top, like a header image instead of just a title link.

I don't think it's that bad of a design, but a catchy logo might help keep people interested and know more about what the sites about.

 

1. suggest to use a .com better
2. design is too simple try to add new template
3. articles is few try to add more useful articles
4. site with low traffic, you need seo/exchange links with your friends

A lot of people that review websites on these forums are always commenting on how a site looks. I know that is the kind of feedback most people want of their websites but site design is not as important as most people believe. I think your site looks fine and navigates easily. My impressions on if I wanted to stay and read was not based on the design and look but on the content. Which in this case I did read a few articles because I'm interested in science and technology.

Your writing style on the other hand, there's something about it that I didn't like. It almost feels like I'm reading a text book, and I don't think to many people enjoy reading text books. Also you use the word "stuck" three times in the very first paragraph, it makes you seem amateurish. You should use a synonym if you're going to be repeating a common verb like that. There are plenty of resources out there that can help you out. I would suggest practicing some more to make your writing style more mellifluous. (See what I did thar, I used a big word

I really like the template, but I do think you are right about the simple design. I am thinking about putting a logo up top, like the two reviewers below say.

The logo that you can currently see in as the Favicon, could be put at the top. How would that look?

I try to mix up my articles between short comments on videos, technical things, and news pieces. I wrote that one at 5am, should have proof read it.

 

Honestly, I love the simplicity of it. In my opinion I would not change a thing. Love it.

Do you think one post per day is too few? I try to do two a day, but sometimes it is only one.

 

I like your style and overall layout. It is neat and compact. I don't think you need to change it at all. But I found all your outbound links are placed on the bottom. I was wondering if it was something wrong with my IE or some others? Just my 2 cents.

 

Do you mean the whole right sidebar or just links within posts? What version of IE are you using?
