first experience of the sandbox effect?

I optimised a page within a website for a specific phrase as it wasnt too competitive try try and bring in some visitors like all good SEO's should do.

Within a few days my non ranking page was #3 on Google :D

It is now nowhere to be see :(

I am guessing it my be in the sandbox?

However, reading the sandbox FAQ I dont seem to have 'broken' any of the rules. The page is not off topic as far as the website is concerned nor does it have a sudden increase of backlinks.

    Is it sandboxed?

I'm not sure what you mean ... your site has been around a while, and the site you list has a PR (of 1 according to my toolbar). This means you are well outside the so-called "sandbox".

It could just mean that sites that were linking to your page were removed, or that links you had on other pages within your site changed. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with filters.

Sure the site is outside of the so called sandbox.

There has been no change to links or linking structure of this page. The only change was that I optimised the damn page for specific keywords which are not that competitive. As I said within days I was #3 on Google but now the cannot find that page anywhere in the indexing!

I can only think that it is somehow sandboxed!?

Guys, don't mix sandbox and particlular keyword filtering. These are 2 different things!

Can you explain the difference please?

The keywords used are still not appearing in the search results on Google after achieving a high position following some SEO work on a page.

If you just went up to #3 and then you dropped back off. You might want to wait a week or so, and see what happens. Oftentimes, Google kind of stews on things. One week it's on 1st page, next week it's gone, next it's in 3rd page, then gone, then finally back on 1st page for good. It's called the google dance, it just takes a while to resolve itself.

    Hello everyone,

MarcRoman about the googledance you mentioned... I have also created a new and small site for a non competitive keyword. Yesterday, I was so happy seeing my site on the first page but after few hours it was gone. Today I cannot again find it.

You mentioned that maybe it is moved out of 1st page to somewhere else. Is there any tool/way to find out in which page of results your site is ranked, for a specific keyword?

    Thank you!!!
