First Day of Adwords --- My Results

So I began promoting my product website today. I was so excited when I got my first sale!

I made a big booboo which cost me dearly, but I still came out ahead for today.
My first mistake was, I was originally just targetting USA and my conversion ratio was holding steady at about 5%, I decided you know I'm going to target the english speaking countries like australia and UK... big mistake, within an hour of targetting them I shot up 5000 impressions and had 68 clicks (thought this was a bit off too...) so I ended up eating $40 in wasted clicks.

So far my campaign stats are:
    150 clicks
    8738 impressions
    1.72% CTR
    .62 Avg CPC
    $92.85 Cost
$144.10 Total Earnings (would have been 172.92 but had a refund)
    4.00% conversion ratio

All in all I think it was a fair day. Not bad for a first time using adwords! I've been pruning my keylists getting rid of keywords that click but have not converted. There was a biggie. Hopefully my CTR will improve and i'll get a better score!

Anyways just thought I would share my results! Cheers!

Also do those stats look good?

That's pretty good for a first day. If your CTR stays good, you can decrease your bid little by little but Google will still display your ads in the top positions. That will lower your advertising cost and allow you to make more profit.

Hey, congrats on this. Many people starting up unfortunately don't experience similar results, so you have obviously done your homework and it has paid off.

A good start is not an excuse for complacency however. Continually tweak your site and now that you have a benchmark set targets for the coming weeks and months. Report back and tell us if you successfully met your targets! G/l!

a lot of people say "great work", "keep it up" but I did not see any real question from anyone so we can learn. Thats why we are here at DP right ?

Anyway, so you are using a landing page to redirect your users to ? and are you tracking each keyword that converts vs the kw that do not. Are you using any tool for that ? Did you got your landing made or created yourself ? What niche are you targeting. you do not have to tell me your product but which niche ?

Yeah I wont tell you what niche, but it is electronics. Basically I am selling a CD that helps users solve a problem! It just came to me when I was thinking of things to sell.

My landing page is not a redirect, I sell the software straight out of my house. I created a very killer looking landing page. I looked at sooooo many landing pages out there and it gave me idea's on how to write my landing page. I also read a book called "mind control marketing" which gave me a lot of ideas that I implemented in my website as far as what words and images and stuff work best for enticing people to buy!

Right now I tried to get the conversion tracking setup but it isnt working right. So for now I have to use google analytics and manually calculate my ROI.
