First ad still under review after two weeks

In August I got a $100 coupon to try out Adwords. Because my site is non-commercial, and I don't sell anything, I never considered using Adwords in the past. But since they gave me the coupon, I decided to give it a try, and then cancel it later if it was too expensive.

So I went through the whole process to set it up, then created a simple ad and special landing page to use as test to see what would happen.

But I submitted the ad more than two weeks ago, and it still shows it as "under review". Is this a normal time to wait? Or is there some problem that I'm not aware of?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you combining search and content in the same campaign? If yes then remove content for now and make a small modification to your ad-copy, this will resubmit your ad and may get approved quickly.

    Hi billybw!

I had the same problem with one of my campaigns, actually the first campaign i created after google upgradeed to the new interface.

I tried to change the ads, so they will be resubmitted, but same problem.

I ended up sending google an email, asking them why is it taking so much to review my ads?

They appologized for the inconvenience and approved my ads right after this.

So..this is what you should do: don't wait anymore, send them an email and tell them your problem. It's not normal to wait a day, so a week is waaay too long.

    Good luck

Good luck. I, like a number of you have suggested, emailed Google. That was back on July 5th. I got a response at 4:30am on Oct 5th. This is no doubt not the norm but i'm feeling a tad resentful towards google's AWFUL customer service lately. It takes forever to get ads approved, there is zero phone support, and email takes forever too.

Does anyone have any experience with Bing?

The problem is since their new interface, *everything* is manually approved now. When you create a new account, your information is manually verified. When you create Ads and Campaigns, manually verified. Keywords - same thing. With the case of new accounts and keywords, they let them start running right away but guaranteed within 48 hours, someone has reviewed your account.

They are trying to clean up AdWords because more and more affiliates are just slapping up a landing page selling pretty much anything, and running an Adwords account on it to get instant visitors. Google doesn't like that and are clamping down on several niches (the run your car on water was probably the biggest slap so far) so get rid of all the crappy ads that are appearing.

Google is trying to be all about quality, not quantity. They don't care how many accounts they suspend or de-activate because they will always have a lot of big companies spending thousands of dollars a month in advertising.

It is definitely not right to wait several months to get a response. I generally get a response in about 3 days. But if it takes longer, I can understand (to a point) because they never did a lot of manual reviews before - and now they review everything.

Just found this post as a perfect example of how Google is cracking down, yet again - on what can and can't be advertised using Adwords:

Have you had phone call from Google.

I remember receiving a phone call after submitting a campaign and site for a free $75 credit.

They might be taking there time with the calls?

I guess you need to contact your Google rep to resolve the issues. Of all the Search Engine companies Bing has the best customer service, they are always trying to be helpful, but Google seem to have realized this over the years and are trying to improve, too.

Contact your Google rep, they will be willing to help you resolve the problem.

    Hey Guys,

Sorry to be so grim but i think they "clipped" or closed your account before your ads even got started. This is prob cause you violated the terms and conditions of google adwords.

What are you guys advertising if you don't mind me asking?
