    Hello

I am looking for a solution as i don't want to use the Windows firewall to install any other firewall free or not but to be able to not lock my self out of remote desktop or at least to have instructions to send to the datacenter and let the 3389 open port so i can login again.

I was try the comodo firewall and i folllow the instructions to open the port but then it was not working :(

So if anyone expert have try this or is sure on how to do it let some info here :)

    Thank you

    Hello,

Try teamviewer, install it allow the firewall acsess the new one your using and then try it and if it blocks you out you can try to sort it.

It's a risk you always take when configuring a firewall remotely and you have no other way to access the server. You should be able to set the rules first in the 2003 firewall, and then switch it on, but if you don't set-up the rule correctly, or apply it to the wrong NIC (assuming you have more than 1), then there's a chance you will lock yourself out.

If things do go wrong your hosting company should be experienced enough to be able to log into your server and fix the firewall for you without you having to write instructions for them. If you do need to write instructions for them I'd seriously consder moving hosts.
