Well I finally did it, changed both of my browsers to firefox and deleted the ie shortcut so no one can use it, very happy with it so far. Any one have any bad things to say about firefox?
The only think I find annoying about Firefox is that I can't move toolbar elements around. In explorer I can click and drag things all over the place....so I had my toolbars setup exactly how I liked them. It let's you "customize" them, but you can't click and drag the search box into the bookmarks toolbar, etc. Of course I'm sure there's a plugin out there for it that I just haven't found yet.
I was using Firefox - now I've gone back to IE: http://www.platinax.co.uk/blogs/brian/archives/2005/05/im_switching_fr.html
The only downside of FF is it never crashes so I don't get me hourly 'frozen screen' breaks anymore...
You will still need to use Internet Explorer for some things; for example, Window Updates or some of the bigger sites that just can't handle Firefox yet. Bad things to say about Firefox? It's a little slow handling graphics and security issues will obviously become more of a factor as time goes on. The temptation is to believe you are 'bulletproof' when you surf with Firefox but due caution is still necessary. Other than that, it's a terrific browser which has transformed my browsing and enabled me to step up a gear or two when researching stuff.
Google [search=google]download mozilla firefox[/search]. Foxytunes and Web developer toolbar as must haves!
All I can say is the adblock plugin is awesome! I use the PRGoogleBar as well so I never have to use IE except for some work apps that only work in IE. There are a few sites out there that are still only IE compatible, but they are fewer and farther between these days. I'm also a fan of the webdeveloper toolbar/plugin. My only dislike is that adobe acrobat occasionally crashes my firefox, and when it's loading I can't surf other sites.
Wow, thanks everyone for the replies, I generally use it to download pk3 files, very fast and lets me put them where I want, also found a problem that I was not aware of viewing through ff, the top table on my forum was aligned left so I logged in through ff and added a center tag and it is centered now, where in ie it was centered without the tag.
Here are some very useful Firefox extentions that I use. For those that are new to Firefox. - Advanced Tabbed Browsing - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=158&application=firefox Enables enhanced control for some aspects of tabbed browsing. (Drag and drop, last focus, etc.) - Web Developer - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=60 Adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools. Very Useful! Read more about it here - BugMeNot - http://www.bugmenot.com/ BugMeNot.com was created as a mechanism to quickly bypass the login of web sites that require compulsory registration and/or the collection of personal/demographic information (such as the New York Times). - ImageZoom - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=139 Adds zoom functionality for images - All-in-One Gestures - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=12 This extension allows you to execute common commands using mouse gestures, rocker navigation, scroll wheel navigation and page scrolling. - Sage - http://sage.mozdev.org/ Sage is a lightweight RSS and Atom feed aggregator extension for Mozilla Firefox. It's got a lot of what you need and not much of what you don't. - GMail Notifier - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=173 I like it in Firefox better than in my system tray. - GoogleBar - http://googlebar.mozdev.org/ Doesn't have PageRank. - PageRank - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=262 This put PageRank in the bottom corner of the status bar of Firefox. I like it better down there, as it lets me know how not so important it is and frees up space in my google toolbar. THEME: - I use PixelZilla ( https://addons.mozilla.org/themes/moreinfo.php?id=136 ) because of the small icons, which give more room for the actual page I'm viewing. w00t! I hope this isn't too OT, but I love firefox, and only use IE for certain things like FedEx.com's ship manager, and when I order at certain sites that just function better with IE. This is rare though.
