Well I have to disagree. When I check my performance stats FF is the one using the most memory.

It depends on your computer. On my gf's comp, her FF uses even more memory than mine and she doesn't have near as many extensions as I do.

O well I still think FF is the best browser out there.

Firefox is my main browser. Opera is great to whip sites into shape when webmaster gets too creative and uses ugly fonts/colors... or when site requires sideways scrolling to read.

I don't see any reason to use IE, they seem to play catch-up to more advanced browsers.

Firefox is better than Internet Explorer. Especially for Web Designer, Firefox give you a lot of plug-ins to develop your site.

So far so good for Firefox 3.6 and Internet Explorer 8.

Just discover that FF3.6 (new) is running very fast on Solaris 10 x64 box.

    Like it much. :)

I mostly use IE out of routine. There are a few errors/issues now and again, and I do have firefox too, which doesn't cause me so many problems, so out of routine I return to IE. I'm sure I'll eventually make the move though.

You can't compare Firefox memory usage when you add 3rd party add-ons where Mozilla has no control.

I just think Firefox uses a lot of memory out of what I have seen. It's just my opinion.

I know quite a few other people think that as well.

Look through Lifehacker and ArsTechnica where they put all the browsers to the test and show that's not true.

Written by people thinking back to versions before 2.5 and those who don't know times have changed and people who don't know better. They also don't know that add-ons and Firefox are two different things. That add-ons can be wonderful but they are applications like any other and consume cpu cycles and memory and willy-nilly adding them comes at a cost. Especially those of us who use heavy ones like Firebug alongside other webdev tools.

There have been more articles coming out over the last few months that talk of the much improved memory usage and speed of Firefox since 3.5 and especially 3.6.

It uses more than internet explorer on my computer. I just did a test with Firefox in safe mode and IE just regular. The both just had one empty tab open.

Firefox only uses one MB more but if that's what we were comparing Firefox would be losing. I will still pick Firefox over any browser any day though.

IE is embedded into the operating system. You can't measure which parts IE uses through the OS.
