FireFox taking loads of ram resources

In my server machine, firefox can take up to 170k ram resources while Jboss , sometimes, needs less than that. I use tabs but no more than 3.
    Is this normal ?

    Thanks

Yeah. Firefox has some memory leakage issues from time to time. It's a good idea to close and reopen Firefox every once in a while rather than leaving it open for hours.

They do claim that it's not a memory leak but a downside of their caching functionality. Whatever. ;)

i use FF now.i hate IE.the thread starter is saying he wont start no more than 3 tabs.then you should see this snap.this is just a typical one which i took yesterday for some purpose.my record is around 150 tabs...and of course it took lot of RAM.this case it almost took 350,000K+ or even more than that.

Go to tools and clear download history and cache. Please post back here and tell how it worked.

I don't think it's just the amount of tabs that are open. Often times I only have a few tabs open (Gmail, Google Reader and an AJAX interface for another website) and after a while my entire PC slows down because Firefox is using so much memory and CPU resources. So I'm not really sure if this can be attributed to a caching problem.
