So I've had it installed for a while. I like the desktop icon, I like the browser but regardless it's just so hard to switch. I open it up and I'm like nnnnnah. I think MSN's implanted a chip in my brain. The only time I'll use it is when my IE freezes or crashes or just something doesn't seem right and I get pissed off. A few minutes later I find myself back in IE. Now MSN got me to upgrade to MSN Messenger live...and the live hotmail or whatever it is seems nicer too. I think I've been programmed by MSN. No way out.
Well IE7 is due out soon - you can get the beta now if you want, and the new version cures a lot of the rendering problems ppl complained about with the now ancient IE6. Not sure what they've done about the security vulnerabilities M$ is famous for... that's the main reason I use FF when on my xp box.
Opera's 'Zoom' is awesome and I believe IE7 has copied the way it works... And while you're trying out other browsers like iatbm says, you should try Safari and Camino on Mac OSX.
I read in this topic/post that IE is not considered a browser because it does not meet the requirements for a browser. I personally like FireFox the best because all of my websites look perfect lol.
I personally don't understand how any webmaster could NOT use Firefox. The plugins that have been made for Firefox make life so much easier and the browser alone is amazing. It's so much cleaner, more efficient (no active-x), and it has a lot more functionality than IE. Especially being the first to do tabbed browsing, now IE and all the other browsers have copied FF since they knew it would be the best way to go.
Why, FF is so great? I like using opera, FF is slower than opera. I just dont understand how any person on earth could NOT use opera...Dumb pretty dumb question to ask. its a matter of chice, thats all. and FF is just a clone of netscape, using the same mozilla core...
Plugins make the difference to me. Having the ability to find out how many pages are indexed on a certain site within the matter of seconds across all the search engines, showing the pagerank, showing all the links that are nofollowed on a page, showing the IP of a domain, all of that makes the difference to me. There are plenty more plugins that I use, but things that make SEO and web development much easier in the long run. Especially the web deve toolbar, that helps a lot in figuring out bugs and fixing things. I just don't see as much development for Opera or other browsers in RE to webmasters and utility. I agree, Opera is nice, and I have it installed, but I don't use it as my primary browser. I find FF a lot more 'useful' in the sense that I need it to be more than just a browser.
I started out using Netscape when it first came out so it was easy for me to go to Firefox... I've prolly only used IE maybe 100-times in 10-years...
I only use IE when i go on yahoo music to watch some new videos. Thats the only reason i will use IE other wise its all FF.
Well Opera is faster then any other web browser. yeah i test it. FF has a low startup speed. the only advantage on FF is the plugins. Some of them are really useful. I think you should try Opera
If Opera were to write a system that allowed Firefox plugins, I would switch immediately. Firefox 1.5 is really annoying me at the moment the way in which it randomly sucks as much memory as it can until the PC is rendered useless... not saying I don't like it, been using it since it was Firebird.
I have like every browser and I use all three. I was strictly firefox until I got opera which is great. Then ie7 came out and I've been using that just because it dosen't screw the design up on pages. Lately i've been running opera and ie7 at the same time. Now only if IE had extensions...
