I want to put a Firefox with google toolbar referral link in the sidebar on my website. Am I allowed to say above the referral link "This is site is best viewed with" followed by the referral link. What are the rules for this?
Oh really? I do this all the time - like "Still using Internet Explorer? Get Firefox with Google Toolar" or "This site recommends Firefox with Google Toolbar" haven't had any complaints yet but I should check out the TOS before they boot me huh
I would think it might depend on the wording. "This site best viewed by firefox" as one big referral link probably would be a bit frowned on but just making "firefox" the referral link might be ok. "get firefox" is making it obvious its a referral link which should be 100% ok as its transparent what you're doing.
I checked around on the googlel referrals faq and appears it is ok to have the referral link like that. Second related question I couldn't find any information on, is it possible/okay to check what browser the visitor is using and only show the firefox link if they are using IE?
This site gives you the classic example of firefox referral in the homepage. http://www.geeksjunction.com
