    Sorry, was in a hurry - I meant "c'mon" :p

In that I agree, but I've noticed that a lot of FF installations by people that only use Facebook, YouTube, MSN and such, usually they don't have any other plugins installed...

How did you get these figures? IE8 passes the Acid 2 test, while it also gets some points in Acid 3 (and I've tried both Firefox and Opera and they perform just a bit better, but still fail the overall test).

Also, in javascript benchmarks IE is slower then the others, but it's just a few milliseconds or so... Overall I don't think the average user would notice much.

But if we are talking about power users, then of course IE is a big no-no. So in some way, we actually do agree :D

I run FireFox, its been great. I had many problems with Internet Explorer for many years. Seemed like I was running my spybot program twice a day pulling my hair out, until I found out that IE has the most holes in it for spyware. Only ran spybot once in three months with firefox. My computer runs like its brand new, but its 3 years now. It looks just like IE and saves your bookmarks, I recommend it to all users. James

Some are in my sig. Others are things like the W3C DOM standards compliance checker. There are quite a number of compliance testers. webdevout, positioniseverything, and so on.
Acid2 tests how well a browser handles both compliant and non-compliant code. It doesn't test everything and Acid2 does not test the same things as Acid3.
IE8 gets about 17/100. Firefox3 scores in the 70s. Opera and Safari score in the 80s but both pass Acid3 in their current nightly builds.
Chrome, Firefox3.1 and Opera's next browser javascript engines run up to 40x faster than IE. See ArsTechnica for their test results and links to others.
No. Technically, IE8 performs almost all CSS2.1 correctly but is far, far behind all other browsers in current standards and practices. It has no support for XHTML. Poor support for the DOM and proper javascript. No support for SVG and is the only browser that doesn't support the new <canvas> element. All these things all other browsers have supported for years but developers can't use while IE is the dominant browser.

Fortunately, IE has dropped far enough that the top developers around the world are now writing code using some of the above mentioned items and just letting IE 'gracefully degrade' into its smarmy swamp of incompetence.

I don't think it'd be long before that happens in the rest of the world too.

Firefox is (looking to the statistics from my own sites) very close but still one step behind.
IE percentage is 48% and Firefox have 41%.

Regarding IE8 for average user is not import of IE pass Acid3 or not and what is score from test? I guess that probably 90% of all online user have never heard for Acid2 and Acid3 and do not have idea what is it!?

Only what matter for 95% users is:

    1) is IE stable and fast on your PC?
    2) is IE secure enough to use it?
    3) can i do what i want with IE on Net?

If the answers on questions above are positive then he will use it and do not care about test.
Microsoft have people and power to make best browsers on earth. Last version is in my opinion very fast, stable with some nice new feature and i believe that IE will get more people back.

Blaming IE for not passing Acid3 is funny for myself.

    btw

    Regarding Acid

LOL, it looks like the source of your argument is 11 years behind. That test that you refer to was probably based on an early beta version of IE8 because they've, err sorry he's taken IE8 results off his table now that it's been released.

It's the achievement of Firefox that's amazing they wouldn't have had such growth if people were happy with IE, doesn't Microsoft realize how important the web is? they seem to have just let things slip - either laziness or incompetence or probably a bit of both!

You totally miss the point. Whether the average user knows or cares about the test doesn't matter. IE8 is still the worst browser on the planet.
    1) Yes
    2) No
    3) No
Obviously you are not a technical person. All IE browsers are incompetent at best.
Rather than reading all the links, you are guessing. If you read anything you'd find IE has been losing users almost every month for 4 years and users are NOT upgrading to IE8 but switching to other browsers.
Because you have no knowledge of the technical issues.

Your three sentences above clearly show that you have have some personally vendetta against IE.

And please do not forget to say "IE8 is for me still the worst browser on the planet."
You can not talk in the name of whole world.

Good luck with your 11 years behind promotion.

Please, show me one thing I have shown which is not the truth.
No, I'm serious. For everybody in the world. IE8 is 11 years behind web standards. Did you not look at my links? No you didn't. It's known, provable and verifiable.
It's not a promotion. It's the truth if you would read rather than spout off on something you know nothing about. Try this link in IE8. Then try in another browser. Or do this one, then in another browser. Now tell me what you learned about browsers.
