Firefox freezes after 5 min (cpu 50%)

I have not found anything on the internet that could help me.

Every 5 min I have to close firefox from the task manager because it stops working correctly.
My CPU goes up to 50% when FF does this.

I know a lot of people have this problem but has anybody found a solution?
I have win7, latest FF, Core 2 duo CPU, 4gb ram.

Only plugin is seo for firefox

Are you using the latest version of FF - 3.6.3? You have a fairly powerful machine with lots of RAM, so system resources shouldn't be an issue.

Does it always happen when you visit a specific website? That could be the issue here, as I've found that some websites with flash tend to act strangely on FF and cause it to crash/freeze up.

Jill, if you could elaborate a little more on the circumstances surrounding your FF issues, I'd be happy to try troubleshooting them.

Are you sure that your computer is safe from virus?? If you have tried fixing your FF but you still get the same problem, may be the problem is in the OS of your computer it could by caused by virus......

Thats really weird, I would totally uninstall it from your system, eg delete file from C://Programs/FireFox after you uninstall it as well. If that doesn't work you might have to try another browser like Google Chrome :)

I'd bet you have some malware on your system somewhere.

if you can fix it go to firefox profiles folder and delete it and then firefox will start fresh for you
