I once had this firefox extension which let you click this little button that appeared after a form field and fill in fields preset by you.

It was good for directory submissions...anyone know what extension this is? I can't seem to find it.

Not sure if this one is it:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1490/

But you can fill out a form, then select TOOLS>Form Saver and save it as a bookmark. I place the bookmarks in a folder under my favorites listed just under the address bar for quick/easy access.

You can edit the javascript that it bookmarks, to remove the category and few other things in a form that might change from directory to directory.

As suggested by mjewel InFormEnter is a very good tool, and it works exactly as you described.
