Firefox and IE problem

Discussion in 'HTML & Website Design' started by e10, May 24, 2005.

I am designing a site now in DW and my default browser is Firefox. It looks fine in Firefox but there are some weird problems in IE. The page is centred with a white background in Firefox and the graphics that make up the header sit together tightly.

In IE the background is hot pink and the header graphics have a big space ...

Where is this pink coming from and why the extra air in the header?

without seeing the code, how can you expect a reasonable reply? Give us a link or post the html and let's have a look.

Mopacfan, I guess I thought you might be able to say, look at how you have the background set up, or check that the background colour is specified here ... or whatever.

I am sure whatever problem I am experiencing is actually really basic and that I am just plain dumb for not seeing it. I am not too keen on putting a link to the html on the public forum but if anyone were to volunteer to take a look via PM I would be most grateful ( and promise to vote for you in the next pop poll).

Sounds pretty basic, as you've said. Hope you get it fixed, if not, let me look too. Been there a million times. :) Good luck e10.

I would suggest validating your code with W3C HTML validator. IMO, a valid code looks fine on all browsers.

    Thank you Lady and Sync.,

I will take you up on your offer if I can´t sort it out. I´ve had no time to try yet. The funny thing is I had a meeting at a cafe with the client today and I asked him which browser he was using. Of course it had to be IE didn´t it. I asked him if he really liked the hot pink background. He said he HATED it, but his girlfriend loved it so he just thought it must be alright. ROFL.

He´s very relieved that it was never intended to look like that and I´ll leave it up to him to explain to his girlfriend whenever I do get the damn spots out!
