I used to use that add-on but I actually figured out a way to make it run faster by opening just a few more ports and showing received data t the second it is instead of at a small delay.

There are a lot of settings that you can mess aorund with in about:config of your FF browser.

I can tell you there both better than IE.

IMO I've used Opera once before, I think its faster. But FireFox has a better interface and I like it. :)

The only reason I ever used Opera was Speed Dial, but they have that for Firefox now =D

like someone already said, if it wasn't for the plugins ff wouldn't be worth it.
opera's mistake was that it wasn't free until 2006.

I've tested FireFox 2, FireFox 3, and Opera using a stopwatch to time page-loading speeds.
Out of my results, FireFox 3 was faster for majority of websites compared to Opera - HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and PHP/MySQL-powered sites equally.

Opera = fast speed, good looks, smart toolbars, speed dial feature
Mozilla = Few mods, looks changed, normal speed, "BETA VERSION"

Opera anytime exceeds Mozilla !! :)

I second that. Opera is the best even without the plugins that takes firefox to get really working

Opera wasn't faster for me...only on a few sites...it was odd.
    FireFox 3 is performing real.

    Firefox is better.
Really there's no speed difference with browsers though, it's your connection speed that matters.

That's not true. Browsers render the data received...and thus why some browsers are faster, more efficient, and more secure than others.

Connection speed is not the only determining factor with page load times etc.

What concerns me most was FireFox eating up 900MB of ram after being up for maybe 30mins of normal DP browsing.

Anywho, vanilla installs and ram usage:

Funny thing is Opera literally SMOKED FireFox v3.0, FireFox 2.x and Safari v3.5.

Oh, and I'm not biased. As long as it renders right, I'm fine with it.
I may not be using firefox anymore with the memory leaks it has.

Unfortunately, much of those Opera-incompatible sites are also FF-incompatible. Thus, provided that you have Windows, it may be necessary to have IE as an emergency browser, or even better, to avoid those sites which don't abide W3C standards :p

Old Netscape user, hate IE, used FF for the past few years.

I could care less about plug-ins, I just want a browser that loads quickly. A recent virus caught me, so I've played with IE 7, FF 3 and I just want a browser that opens pages.

Just let me find my research, quickly! Two minutes for the program to load, open, two minutes to tell me how it doesn't work, 30 seconds for me to change options...

I just want a browser to browse! Open, search, done!
