The goal of Firefox 2: Launch day activity is to make more people aware of the release of Firefox 2 and emphasize people have an alternative to other browsers.

The Firefox 2.0 RC1 is available for download. New features in Firefox 2.0 include enhancements in security, tabbed browsing, performance, and extensions. The browser update also includes a built-in spell checking and an anti-phishing feature, much like Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 7. JavaScript 1.7 and improved subscribing of RSS feeds are also among the additions.

Lets help firefox rule the internet.

I like firefox because its faster and safer than IE. Being web developer I think it is the best browser to test your site.

    why do you like firefox?

I like using firefox because it browses the internet faster than internet explorer. My computer is a bit slow (766mhz), so firefox somehow runs smoother.

Something else I found interesting was that whenever I scanned for spyware after using internet explorer, several items would show up. Since I've been using firefox, hardly any items show up.

I think 9/10 people use it here.

not sure why it hasn't put more of a dent into IE...i imagine b/c most 'general users' don't realize just how bad IE really is!!

and I was relatively new to FF before I went to 2.0

I like 2's new tabs better, it reminds me of Opera which was what I was using previously.

However, I wish there was a way to 'duplicate' a tab and 'close all but active tab', I really liked those in Opera.

one other thing in 2, I don't think it was happening in 1.5.0.7, it sucks up my memory big-time.

right now it's sitting @ 162K with 2 tabs open but I've seen it balloon to 300K+ with maybe 4 tabs open.

    anyone else notice that?

FF is good but there are some w3 compliant codings that don't work with FF.

Yup, there is no option like duplicate but it has close other tabs functionality to close all but not the active one.

    It is a bit resource hungary, there are several reasons for that like;
    which theme you are using?
how many active extensions you have?
it works better on Linux than windows, it is nothing different you will see such things with other apps also.

let us know if someone knows how to optimize it on windows.

Yes! I found the 'close other tabs' last night!! I am a [IMG]

☑ I just have the std. theme.

☑ I think the only add-ons I've installed are the google toolbar & adblock.

☑ thanks for the info. it wouldn't be as much of an issue but right now I only have 512MB of the memory...
