Firefox 2.0 and Alt + S

    Hey Guys,

Downloaded Firefox 2.0 yesterday and was going along the various features it provided! No doubt it is fast and some other features spring up really good, but at the same time it has introduced certain features which bug me!

A good example of this would be individual exit for the tabs, earlier if I had lots of unwanted tabs open I would've just had to keep on clicking at the same place to close all of them, but now, I have to goi around looking for the 'red cross box' to close it! Doesn't make much a difference, but can be pretty annoying at times!

    The Alt + S thing

Another pretty odd thing is the saving option "Alt + S" which was used as an alternative to clicking on submit, which no longer exists!

If you're someone like me usability is a big issue and after typing a big enough post, instead of going in looking for the mouse, I'd do a quick 'Alt + S' to make my post! Used to come quite handy in the Quick Reply module!

But Alas, this feature is broken in the new Firefox Web 2.0, it used the Alt +S hotkeys to access the history menu.

    The Solution

There are a few solutions I would like to list to this problem here!

    1. The Alternatives
Utilise the alternatives, you can achieve the same result by pressing
    a. Shift + Alt + S
    b. Tab -> Enter

    2. In the address bar (The place where you typen your URLS) enter this
    about:config
In the bar that appears below that type in
    ui.key.chromeAccess
You will see that it's value is set to 4, change it to 5
    Then type,
    ui.key.contentAccess
You will see that it's value is set to 5, change it to 4.

And voila, your Alt + S should be working again!

    Cheers,
    Abhishek
