Since installing firefox 2.0 at home, I can no longer enter text into the address bar. For example, if I wanted to look something up on Wikipedia, I could type "wiki elephant". Or to get to the Digitalpoint forums, I would type "digitalpoint forums". It would redirect me to the site 99% of the time. Now when I do the same I get "URL is not valid". Or sometimes if it's just one word, it will redirect me to the .com of that word. At work, FF 2.0 is fine, works as before. Anyone have any ideas about what's changed, different, or wrong?! Thanks.
What OS do you use on each? And the Google toolbar works well for this type of thing. Also the history usually saves cache so just start typing 'forums.' and the rest should come up.
Windows XP on both. I think the version at home is the Home Edition, at work it's Professional. I'm not keen on the Google toolbar ... and I hate saving history. In both cases other people use the PC, so I like to keep things clean and anonymous. I just want it how it was before, damnit!
Well not sure why you don't like google toolbar that is your preference. The only thing I can suggest then is contacting firefox. or going to a firefox forums.
