http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.5beta1.html It looks pretty good and seems stable I've written up my first impressions of it on Coolest Gadgets (shameless plug I know) but to summarise: You can drag tabs Faster render engine Some sites (well mine) don't display right Extensions may not be compatible
Cool! Thank god for draggable tabs. Does it load faster as well? Native SVG support is pretty nifty as well. I wonder whether the download got much bigger because of that.
Yeah it seems to start faster, but without the extensions I'm going to have to revert back. I need my FormEntry, Google Toolbar and web developer toolbar, I'm already feeling lost without them.
Couldn't live without the web developer toolbar either. I'm sure the OS geeks will catch up quickly and get their hacks out soon.
Yeah its a new or at least modified engine, it's actually CG that looks odd the top graphics aren't right. I've attached an image of it.
Blimey... I'm not gonna install 1.5 until I can have the plugins on it (Not on my work machine anyway). I may install it when I get home and get some CSS updates over to you if you need them. Could you check oweb for me please?
No, I had to giggle the header around a bit because of the moved navigation (oweb it's at the top, yours, it's on the right)... So I had to use some floats... Try this (I can't check so it might now work)... .logo { float: left; padding: -4px 0px 0px 14px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } That could mess up ie or FF - I don't know, but it will be a simple change like that.
Thanks but not quite. I managed to get the logo lined up but that broke something else so I'll be leaving it for now as it hopefully won't be affecting many people.
Nice! This version is much faster, as if I got a DSL upgrade, and the pop-up blocker FINALLY works again. Though on the downside, no Google toolbar. *downgrades*
I too have downgraded now, I like it but really need the Extensions. Hopefully it won't take too long before the developers get their act together, like they've had all morning already.
I read this in a different forum earlier, ran immediately over to download/install, but then discovered the same about the extensions. So, I restored the previous version for now. Definititely looking forward to trying it again later on, though.
When installing, I chose "custom install" and created a new directory - "Mozilla Firefox 1.5" and installed the beta. It automatically updated my shortcut to 1.0.6 but I created a new one and am able to launch either version (although not both at the same time). I am not sure if this is advisable, but it worked for me. I am able to test website display with either version. FWIW.
