This is just sad. These are highyl trained firefighters who were sent to NO to help victims of Katrina. Here is an example of big government getting in the way. So they travel there to help hurting people and find themselves sitting in a damn 8 hour class? WTF? Check out the full article. http://www.nbc5.com/news/4946511/detail.html As some of you know, I went down there a few weeks back and all I can say it the state and any other org involved really f-ked up here. Good Americans were standing by, the Red Cross was standing by, why the hell were they not allowed in? Oh thats right, they hadnt watched the video yet.
Its a joke these days. Its like you can get sued for not helping someone in trouble or helping them in the wrong way... A friend of mine "traffic police" could not go to this pileup because he had too much paper work to finish. They would not let him go even though they did not have enough people on the scene...
That seems pretty much par for the course for a government effort. It amazes me that any rational person would look to the government for help with almost any problem.
Well, that's what they're there for, at least in theory. But governments are faceless machines. It'd be better if weren't so large :/ or bring back an ancient Spartan law (i think it was spartan, i know it's in that are of Europe) that leaders could legally be assassinated if they were rubbish
my mom had to go through a 6 wk red cross "disaster training" just to be able to take names and addresses at a shelter for Katrina and Rita hurricane victims *?*
Even small government blows. I live in an affuent suburb of about forty thousand people. My neighbor called this afternoon because her alarm company called her because her house alarm appeared to have gone off. I went over and checked all her doors and windows. No problems. False alarm. Twenty-five minutes later the cops show up. If there was a burglar, he would have been in another county already.
