Fios router password different internally vs externally

    First off im not sure if this is the right section to be posting this in but I couldn't think of where else it would go. I have a wireless verizon fios router that i can access when I'm on the local network by going to 192.168.1.1. It is set up with the default username and password. I was able to get the IP address of my router and the port to log into it, but when i try and type the username and password it wont let me in. It appears as though the external and internal passwords are different but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me if there is a setting I need to change or why it wont let me log in? Thank you!
