Hi i was wondering i am making a website based which will feature album reviews, show videos, offer layouts, has gallery etc, so it has about 5 or 6 major sections.
I was wondering should i publish the site as i go along section by section, and just have "coming soon/under construction" on certain sections, or wait till the whole site is complete?
What is your opinion on this, the site itself could take 2 months + or so to finish so i was wondering whether i should publish as i was going along?
Also any additional comments on how search engines will like or not like this?

Do not have under construction. Make post in each section then submit site if you want to get it listed before your done.

How many hits do you think you are going to get right-away?
If its alot I'd go "Under Construction" or at least something to have the site up.
That way you can begin generating traffic at least.

not expecting too many hits to start with, but i'd like to put i've got this urge to publish what i've done now rather than wait for this long period and get my site indexed also etc. but was wondering if major disadvantages would come with doing this?

Based on what I"m hearing, I think you should publish as you go along. The disadvantage is that you could turn away potential first time visitors who will never come back.

I think it's a good idea to put up sections as you go along. For a site to keep doing well with the Search Engines, you've got to keep adding new stuff anyway, so I've found getting stuff up as I go along works fine for getting your site listed and date stamped. It takes careful planning, though, so make sure you have a good idea where everything goes and your organization figured out and try to anticipate anything you may want to add somewhere down the road.

I think you should do something in each of your sections to make them all viewable and then publish it. Then you complete it without any rush.
