Finding the right domain, Now harder than ever to find!

Hey guys I just wanted to share my opinion about domain names due to me being in the search for the right domain for a website I plan to make. Anyways I am finding it really frustrating that I have typed in at least 50 domain names with the keyword I am looking for, now this keyword is very low competition, but somehow I get 6 domains out of 50, and those 6 domains where all with a hyphen (-) and not very easy to remember. Now I was interested in seeing all of these websites that where taken, to scope out the competition and out of curiosity I wanted to know how good they where. Unfortunately 30 out of the 40 taken domains where these lousy redirect pages, with no relevant content, and only a bunch of adwords ads, no real layout, no articles, nothing. This really bugs me. Seeing such great domains and being used in such a terrible way, I feel bad for the people like me who want to use that domain to create a website with rich content and will be deemed useful by the people who land on that site.
Just my two cents, and I would love to hear yours! So post your thoughts and whatnot.

    Thanks

I understand your frustration - there are domains out there that could be turned into multimillion pound businesses if the right person had them. But then again, I kind of like it. I've always had to search long and hard to find a good domain name, but its forced me think literally and I think the fact I have to try so hard (and do try so hard) gives me a competitive advantage. So I'm not spitting and cursing - eventually you'll always find something good.

Hmm interesting way of seeing this. I do agree that I have been found using google adwords keyword tracker, to find keywords for the domain and do research witch I probably would of never done before. But still, I have yet to find a good domain name that will work.. out of the 100 domain names I have already tried. I am almost ready to just put in a hyphen and go on from there.

My conclusion is everybody is educated in keyword research and in the process also understand it is good to register as a domain name.

Heh, understandable. You're like the nth number who reported this, though, and I don't
know if you'd want someone telling you what to do with what you possess just because
that someone thinks it can be put to better use. (unless you don't mind, maybe...)

Reality is someone's bound to get something else before you, to the point it might just
needlessly (?) frustrate you if it's not "used" according to your definition. Fortunately,
other options do exist as others suggested.

The likes of Google, YouTube, RapidShare, etc. didn't become famous merely because
    of their names only.

Hmm I do agree with you on most of the above. I understand that Instead of getting a domain named, drillstore I could get kaseysdrillshop, for example. However when you think of search engines people are most likely going to get sent to drillstore and not kaseysdrillshop, it would require lots of advertising and branding, while If I had a keyword rich domain It should do well with searchengine traffic.
