Finding keywords which are not overly competitive!?

As we all now there are many tools like Google, Overture, WordTracker, etc. in order to measure which keywords are popular & approximately number of searches per day for each keyword.

The real trick however is not finding the keywords but finding ones that are not overly competitive!

Anyone has tips here how to find keywords with traffic, but not overly competitive?

    Thanks! :)

I stay hours trying in Adwords Keywords tools. After some hours some new non-competitive keywords magically apears.

You do no find a single word with traffic - this do not exist but you find 500 keywords with small traffic each that all in a adgroup has a nice traffic.

you can use the some of the recommended keyword tools for showing which keyword getting more traffic/searches. If you are runnig a Google adwords, it is better to use Google Adwords keyword tool and for overture/yahoo, use "inventory.overture"

But the problem with Google is that when there is almost no traffic for search term or CTR is very low, your keyword will be "disabled" shortly!

Also it happens often as you described that search term you found comes back as "< 0" searches for particular keyword!

Do you have a solution for that or any advise?

    Thanks mate!

    Hi Michel,

This is a wrong concept: Google loves when you add a low traffic term.

There is no relation with low traffic term and low CTR: low trafic is all about time will take some time to get clicks for that term, but this do not affect the CTR.

CTR is about relevance of you ad for that keyword, so there is no relation with traffic.

Sorry, maybe I expressed myself wrongly...when I add 'not popular' search terms for a certain Adwords campaign, then many search terms will come back as '<0'!

This means that I will NOT receive any traffic, therefore Adwords suggest to disable this particular search term OR to increase my PPC!

Are you familiar with this concept? Do have any tips for me how to deal with this sort of situations?

    Thanks a lot!

Ignore the traffic estimates. They are worthless.

yes, don't go to the estimate.

use the keytool and just decide if the keyword is related or not with your business.

If it is related you add it if it is not do not add it.

Today I had a sale from a keyword very specific:

    "instant web hosting in peru"

    1 impression - 1 click - 1 sale - $90,00 earned

You are saying that after adding search terms in my Adwords account whereby those search terms returning back as "<0" just to keep them & most likely there is a change that those search terms will give me back clicks even though Adwords saying "<0", because Adwords traffic estimates are useless?

    Thanks

You could have many low traffic terms, but if they are all relative and in a group of their own.

    And extremely targetted.

Then you could be getting a CTR of 30% Google will love you :) And your price will be cheaper for higher positions.

Its all about tweaking and testing, aswell as setting up your campaign's correctly.

Yes. It's told me "0" before but I received hundreds/thousands a day. The opposite is true too - just because it says you'll get a thousand clicks a day doesn't mean you will.
