I started this technique last week and so far so good.

Install the stumble upon tool bar and select the option to stumble threw forums. The stumble threw option is on the right side of the stumble upon button on the tool bar with the down arrow.

I been doing this today and got all forums with PR 6 and above.. Alexa on alot was under 20k

most ran vbullentin which allows dofollow sigs.

Ok, just do the following SEO experiment:

Set up a new website for a moderately competitive keyword / topic.
Promote it only / back link only with forum signature links.

See the result for yourself. Kind regards, SY

Forum links do still have value. Agree that it's more important these days to have the links pointing from forums that are relevant to your niche.

    Backlink Hierarchy in my experience

Links with relevant anchor text from high authority sites in the same niche.
Sidewide links, like blogrolls, from sites similar to yours.
    All the rest ;-) SY

most search engines look at your link profile and devalue the links if it looks false.
buying lots of links, blog comments etc won't help you now... will only help the ones selling them.

I read all the comments someone is saying forum links are not good while someone is saying that they are good.

Let me tell you, that is forums are mostly dynamic indexed thousands and millions of pages on one forum as well because most of them are made on php.

However, if you create any thread and you check it in search engine after one minute or two, you would find that thread is indexed in Google, just make an experiment, just create a thread with long tail keyword so that it would be unique to be found in search engines or you can find it with "" as well.

So if forum content is indexed in even 1 or 2 minutes then how can you say that they are not good.

Forums are very easy method of link building if you do it with quality, try to participate in some forums make relevant 10 or 15 posts per day add your website url in signature that should be relevant to the forums and the watch the magic after one or two months.

The main thing is that forums are available in almost all the niches so it is great thing to get relevant links.

I also understand that taking links from high pr and relevant sites for old domain and static pages would give you lots of link juice, but there you have to pay a good amount of money say monthly $4 or $5 that is not affordable for those who are new to SEO and want to earn something at starting.

What you describe is exactly the reason why forums are a great way to get things INDEXED quickly. But the links are very short-lived. If a thread gets old, it sinks to the bottom of the pile and Google doesn't find it anymore. Just do the following, go and find a really old forum thread and check when Google cached it the last time. To make links count you need links that are on the top pages of a site, not buried down in the cellar! SY

well said but I think that encourage you to do more participation on forum sites, be active and try to participate in forum will definitely help you. You can select few forum sites of your niches in which you can easily contribute as indyguidedotinfo and other said we can use sites like Stumbleupon or addons to find such sites.

I like Starcaller's method. I never thought that Stumble upon can be used this way. I think PR is still a significant factor. I will give it a try. Thanks for sharing

Interesting posts - thanks! :) I do think forums can go either way, but depending mostly on the topics / relevance and the audience. Great info.

Noting against forums, I do like them, lots! But when it comes to SEO they are more valuable for indexing of new content than proper backlink building ;-) SY
