finding dedicated IP addresses ?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Henry1, Nov 6, 2005.

When looking at a specific website I, of course, know the domain name. I also happen to know what server/host that website is with. But I would also like to know if that website has a unique decidated IP address with that host.
Is it possible to find this out. If so, how do I find it?

netcraft.com... pretty hard to navigate with all those links. Where exactly do you do the dns searching stuff?

whois.sc tells you how many other websites are sharing a given ip address.

    Thanks Berserker.
I went to whois and checked a specific website, but am not sure I understand. It shows an IP address, but I think that is the IP address of the host. It also says: "Hosts 37 websites." I assume this means that host hosts 37 websites?
However, when I checked on another specifice website (incidentally owned by the same company, it says: "Hosts 54 websites."
I am at a loss to understand.

    Ok, may I assume this:
If I type a specific set of numbers into the address bar and it takes me to a specific website, can I then assume that that website has a dedicated IP address? Would those numbers be its "dedicated IP address?"
