Finding copyright information for online games

I am looking to put online "brain" games on my site. I came across this site http://brainden.com/brain-games.htm which has the type of games I want to use, and I think these games might not have copyrighted. How do I investigate efficiently or find a resource that can?

    Thanks for any help!

One thing to keep in mind is that as soon as you put something down in writing it's copyrighted, at least in the US. You don't have to file a copyright application or anything, it's just automatic. Now, whether or not the game has been released with a public domain, open source, or some other license that allows you to use it for free and republish it on your site is a totally different matter. To find out you have to a little digging.

As an example, the first game on the list, Bloxorz, is apparently an open source project that is hosted on SourceForge.

    http://bloxorz.sourceforge.net/

The other games are most likely the same way, released as open source through various publisher sites. Just go through the list, Googling each one, and try various terms to discover the original site that posted the game. In the case of Bloxorz all I had to do was search for "Bloxorz download copyright" and the sourceforge page was the third item on the list. Other combinations to try would include terms like "open-source" or "public domain."
