When you are the the Google Adwords Keyword tool, simply enter your site's link on the domain form then hit on the submit button. The result will provide you a list of keywords which you can use as your reference.

look at the competition category. a lot of people think that it shows the competition of the other sites found searching for that keyword so many choose keywords that have it low .
but in fact it shows how much money are invested in commercials for that keywords in google adsense. so a keyword with low is low-paid on adsense per click. so it is better to pick a medium keyword. another aspect: make a list with about 20 keywords. then google them and check the first sites. as lower are the sites optimized (no-quality backlinks, no quality content) , as better is the keyword for you because it will be easier to get ranked higher for that words. PM be if you want to know more.

It is very simple to use, you can enter keyword and press enter button, after that you will find all keywords you must select but low competition and high visitors are best for your website.

I suggest you start with market research first, especially if you are not that familiar with the niche you are going into. Market research will give you a background of what is in demand for your niche as well as what keywords users would normally use within the niche. We have a great lesson on keyword research using various applications that can help.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Also switch google keyword tool to exact searches as well so you have a better idea of the real search volumes.
Then use the competition analysis strategies listed above on the most promising looking results.
Also with making a list of 20 or so keywords add some that are lower competition so they are easier to rank for - that way you'll start getting traffic and better visitors and you'll be able to rank more easily for the higher end keywords.

First off, enter actual keywords/phrases, not your website url. I wouldn't trust any keyword tool to pick keywords by analyzing my url alone.

Spend some time checking what keywords your competitors are targeting. If you have the budget, it is much easier to do this step with paid software such as SEO Elite or SEM Rush.

Make a list of all relevant keyword phrases, particularly ones that would match what your website is offering. Then put all of those keyword options into the keyword tool to also get any long tail you might have missed.

You do want to pay most attention to the Exact match results for picking individual keywords, but it is still worthwhile to look at the broad results for keyword grouping trends. You can target several different phrases with 1 page, especially if those keywords overlap.

As someone else mentioned, it is often best to use a mix of medium & low competition keywords. That way, you can secure the easier rankings first while the other rankings build up.
