Finding a trustworthy link checker

    I have recently posed something like this but need a better understanding. Why is it that so many places I check my backlinks on online backlink checkers show such a verity of differences of results. How can I find accurate results?

    if u want accurate results type it in straight from each search engine. for example go to google and type link:www.re-talk.com if you type that it shows all the back links to my real estate forum that google has indexed. do the same with your site.

    This isn't true, Google only display's a part of your backlinks.

    true. I use yahoo site explorer...just search for it..you can't miss it.
