finding a legit SEO company/person?

    Lets face it.. that are a lot of people calling themselves SEO
    experts and are either scammers/spammers or dont know what
    they are doing. The "for sale" section has a ton of them.

    Of course there are plenty of good people out there to. The hard
    part is telling them apart for a service like SEO. It's very subjective.

    I am looking for a SEO company/person that I can outsource
    white hat relavent link building/off page SEO to.. We have a
    first page site for a bunch of keywords but very few #1's..
    plenty of 2, 3, 4's however. Obviously we want to be #1 for
    everything. That takes time I just dont have so I need to
    outsource it.

    Now we arent a huge business but we can pay a more then
    India money but can't afford an SEO king.. someone in between
    thats reliable, honest, and hungry.. need a strong reference site? I
    would be happy to be a great reference for good work.

    You might want to check out elance.com - they have a pretty good feedback system, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a legitimate company or individual to work with who knows what they are doing.

    Good idea.. I hadnt thought of looking at the freelance sites out there.
    Perhaps some of a the senior people here could recommend someone via PM?

    I understand your concern. I have been learning SEO from different gurus.. and it seems they have their individual idea of what it takes to get a website to the top. But one thing is sure, sites that organically risen to the top as compared to an overnight hit stays at the top for as long as it exist.

    That is one thing I would like to share. So in hiring one, be sure they will use organic seo strategies.. otherwise your website may lose it's grip on serp before you notice it.

    I will not recommend myself or my company yet, but in due time, that is what we want to be.
