I am looking for a job in software development or programming. When I come across job listings, they usually say they want someone that knows C++, C or C#. I have never worked with "C" languages before but I have done a lot of work with Java and JavaScript, not to mention HTML,CSS,PHP and MySQL. So would I qualify for these jobs that require C++? I know Java and C are very similar but they are not the same and C++ is more powerful.
You wouldn't qualify because thats like someone who says they know HTML and can't do PHP. Their both very similar, but one of them is specialized for one thing while is specialize for another. I would recommend that you try and capitalize on what you actually DO know how to do. If you find your skills lacking when it comes to getting a job you want, its time to upgrade them and get a new skillset maybe learning C.
