How does one go about finding someone to write ad copy for a website or marketing letter. I have a travel related website but have no clue who to write things in a professional manner.

When you say professional manner, what exactly are you asking for? The reason I ask is that it depends on the goals of the page. As an example, your entire website could be funded by AdSense in which case you'd be more concerned with having a keyword rich page written up that will attract the most relevant ad. On the other hand you could have the goal of creating an authority site for your travel niche, in which case you'd be wanting to break your topics into multiple pages to encourage pageviews and reduce bounce rate.

There are so many variables that need to be considered when appointing a writer that it would be more useful to know a little more about your definition and site goals, without disclosing confidentialities of course.

What i need to do it take info from 5 sites and bing it all together into 1 site. We sell land in Belize. We want to sell the country and then sell the land. So we need to create a site to collect leads then we will direct market to the contacts. But not force feed them the sale. We have done this in Thaland and it went well. But I am open to any ideals in a better way to do this.

You can find a copywriter in the DP forums, like Buy Sell and Trade. Just a note, though, you need to keep in mind that the nature of your product doesn't translate well into the nature of a web visitor. Make sure your site's copy is driven toward collecting information, not making a sale. Your website won't sell a condo, you will. Also, keep your contact form as short as possible, this will boost your conversion.

You could try and find one on here. Or their are some freelance websites to try, with members having ratings.

As someone who has hired writers, I would suggest you read through posts throughout the forum and look at online resumes and samples. PM those who consistently write well and have great samples. Or, you could always contact a marketing company.

    Good luck!

Hire a freelancer. You can easily Google "freelance" and it will bring you numerous popular sites that offer you to pay others to do some copy writing for you.

My opinion you are better off talking to a few writers and
choosing one that has the best grasp of how to position
your website to make money. There is a lot more to it than
just the writing. The psychological "flow" of things are important
too. Most copy works best if there is ONE objective. Travel
sites are often scattered in their message, promoting many
affiliate programs, etc... when such an approach works it
is usually because the site has MASSIVE TRAFFIC, while your
    site probably has very little.

I've worked with a few real estate companies here in Spain and this approach does seem to work very well, the important part is to make your information pages long enough to keep the reader interested, and provide a lot of in content links to related pages on your own site.

Increasing pageviews and leading the visitor to snippets of information about the benefits of buying land in Belize will ultimately lead them to your contact form.

Given the potential size of your market, I'd say you're going to need to be very aware of your site stats and the keywords people use to visit your site.

Let me give you an example from Spain. Golf courses have become an emotive issue here due to water supply problems, now a couple of the real estate sites in this area want to promote property sales near to these courses, and to demonstrate their environmental credentials they've added pages about the local fauna, nature walks etc. The problem is that they are now ranking for keywords related to nature instead of golf, the net result being their bounce rate has increased, customer contact has decreased, and now they have a lot of work ahead of them to rebuild their presence in the SERPs for their actual keywords.

This is the kind of mistake that can occur if you don't have complete control of your message and employ a copywriter who understands your business needs. In your case, you say you want to sell land, so I'd be inclined to provide a lot of pages on Belize property rights, investment opportunities, resident or working visas, and incidentally provide information on the country that would appeal to tourists.

Your aim should be getting your website accepted by Google, Yahoo etc as an authority on investing in property in Belize. If you can do this, most of your traffic will be focused and interested, and it will be much easier to promote newsletter signups or contact form completions. Your copywriter needs to understand this and be able to work with you to write content the meets this goal.

Try freelancers. Usually now am hiring them from freelance sites. Good writers are there over there including English native writers. Check first link of my signature for details on freelance sites.

I should really post a creative brief here on this site. It would help buyers define their projects more clearly so that when you do hire a copywriter you have much of the information you need. At any rate, anything you can put in writing regarding your goals, timelines, needs, strategies is helpful.

I know, I know you need a template of some kind. I'll work on it.
