Sorry but I cannot understand your service. You will monitor my proxy only for your college or across schools or colleges ?? I wonder how you can do that. Please clarify I might be intrested in your service.

Ok, I'll start again. My college uses the Smartfilter BESS filtering system which is used by many different schools and colleges. Also, since all filtering companies use similar technology, you can be pretty sure that sites blocked by SmartFilter will be blocked by some of the other major ones eg. Websense. In my monitoring service, I will check your proxy every day for two weeks and let you know when it becomes blocked. This can be useful to test which promotion methods get your proxy blocked quickest, etc.

Now, does anyone want to take me up on the monitoring service?

while that may be true, it is irrelevant as not every school blocks the same things, and they don't use the same filters to catch the pages, so some schools will use in text searches, others will do url matching, and others will do both.

So being blocked by one school is not a measure of anything... this service is useless

It is useful to see if you site being blocked by web filters, HOWEVER, different places uses different setting. One site bloked on your school doesn't mean it is being blocked by others. This is why developing a script for this purpose is hard.

c0ldMax, if you have some proxies you would understand the value of this service.

i estimate that the filter companies block up to 50% - 80% of your potential proxy traffic - this is based on my testing of new proxies that peak to start with, then dip massively when they get picked up by the censorship companies

The service allows you to find out if the draconian censorship companies have added your proxy domain to their block lists

Of course all schools, colleges have different blocking techniques and blocking software, so you are right that the schools that DO NOT have blocking software but rely on the tech admin to block sites will not be effected or useful for this service.

But the point is that proxy owners may want to try some tricks to stop getting blocked by the filter companies, this is where this service could be used - testing different things until you no longer get blocked or get blocked after a couple of months rather than days!

One point of view is that you will always get blocked so don't bother with trying not to, but i would bet that the owners of an unblocked proxy will have more traffic and thus more advertising revenue

    My2c no offense intended.

Just be sure NOT to query your site on web filter database as it will red flagged your site instantly.
and c0ldMax, looks at the time difference between our post.

except the fact that it is the software that blocks these sites.. .not the companies.. if you had any technical knowledge.. you would realise how useless this service is.. Seriously.. who cares if your site is blocked by ONE school/college?
