I mostly go through contact us. Most of the time I find all the details otherwise I send them mail and hope for reply.
If you actually visit their sites you should be able to get a contact address. I get them all the time for my 10 year old domain - not so much for the newer ones. All go in the bin and if I catch them on gmail before I download them I report them as spam. If you don't want to taint your email/domain etc then its better to use link exchange forums and actually target people who are interested.
better is to go link exchange forums to meet person who are really interested in link exchange also other way is go one by one to each site and note there contact us email to try contacting them for link exchange
