I just posted a response about Accoona in a previous post, and that got me thinking about a small "find engine" that I ran across. It is called Find.com, and up until last week the site said "Launch 03.06". I did some research, and I'm trying to get a read on them. When they launched yesterday. The first thing I noticed was that their results are from Overture/Yahoo. However, similiar to Accoona they have a "refine your search" feature called Topificiation. I think both of these ideas are pretty good. These value added solutions to search are good ideas, and they do provide some benefits. Both Accoona and Find.com have some good PR ideas. Accoona has used President Clinton and they have compared themselves to Google. Find.com seems to be focused on their intellectual property (IP) to make any kind of document easier to find. Their IP sounds more like a technical or value-added feature instead of PR, but if you look at the parent company of Find.com you will see that they allude that their IP may be used today by most of today's software compaines. This technology is called XML. Could this be their way to attract visitors? I don't know.
The results are Yahoo with the tigo|search Topification logic. Plus they could just be using the Yahoo results as a place holder while they integrate their proprietary search engine. Here is an article on newsvine that describes find.com in more detail.
