I created my first site (cake site in signature below) back in August and after a couple of weeks of being on the first page of Google (the honeymoon period I'm guessing) my SERPs dropped way, way down into oblivion. I have spent the past few months adding more content to the site while also building quality backlinks. And then all of a sudden yesterday my site started appearing on the first page of Google for some of my key targeted phrases (plus a whole bunch of other ones). My organic Google traffic is exploding and my AdSense income is increasing as a result....yeah, finally some love from Google!
exactly! dont only rely on goog to get your traffic...because you dont wanna ride the rollercoaster.... Good Luck
Grats! Same thing happened to me! Seems, after you open your site and the serps die, you have about 6 months of hell before google loves you.
Thanks everyone - traffic is highest it has ever been today I do indeed plan on continuing with other means of traffic generation. Never want to put all my eggs in one basket!

Thats the way to go. Its highly risky to only depend on a single source for traffic & revenue. One should always work on alternative avenues. Best of luck and also congrats. Hard work always pays.
I am glad your getting traffic here are some way to get even more. "cakes and kids" search term gets 390 searches per month. When you start talking about cake, birthdays cakes it gets up into the millions. I am actually in the process of working on a similar niche. Total backlinks: 23 Total unique anchor texts: 9 Your also doing very little deep linking try to get a link to every page, the more the better. Use digg and other sites to help with this, along with article submissions. Your site is well indexed and a lot of the pages are out of supplemental, that is good. Also try adding some larger content articles 450 words plus you will get even more traffic. I like your party themes page, nice overall setup.
Yes, really just about building out my pages to add more content and working on backlinks. I did some article submissions, lots of forum posts and got listed on a couple of very relevant sites.
