After 12 Years And 5 Deployments The US army Is Making Me Retire Medically After An Incident On My Last Trip. Having Mixed Feelings But we Will See.
Hi GlobalHax. Sorry To hear that you have to retire, its tough being forced to do something regardless of the reason. But hopeful something good will come your way I saw this in an article and thought it may be helpful: Severance pay is an option sometimes. If you have less than 20 years of experience, and a disability rating that is within acceptable means (typically 30% or below), severance pay is an option worth looking into. Sometimes it will be needed. Tricare is an option for those that need insurance that are retired from the military. Some active duty members receive this as well. Insurance can help to pay for any treatment that a person needs based on their reason for being pushed into retirement from the military. Being medically retired from the military will allow a person to address their problems whether it be mental or physical. This can be helpful because if the person has a problem that causes them daily issues with their life, they need to be addressed. Anyways I'm not sure if it applies to your situation, but thought i'd post it incase. Hope things get easier on you, dealing with this transition.
Sorry to hear that GlobalHax. When my dad retired after 22 years service (British military), it was the best thing that could have happened for him. He entered a completely different line of work, settled somewhere long-term and has been very successful (at least in my view). So for him, it ended up being an opportunity. I hope it is the same for you. All the best with your online ventures.
Sorry for the incident, I was coming into this thread expecting a happy story. Sorry to hear this, but the internet is a wonderful place and hopefully ou can make a lot of money here.
