Finally, November first is my last day on the job

I must say, the internet has really surprised me.

Two years ago I sat at my desk in the office of the marketing department for a major US bank and tried to decide whether or not I should dive into the web realm.

Today I have decided to take it to the next level.

Over the past month I have taken on more business than I took on in the past 4 combined. I've been overwhelmed and it has helped me come to the realization that yes, I can afford to let go of the j-o-b.

Over the past two years I have gone from working 50 hours per week to the present 15 hours per week (and have called in sick several times this month already because I had so much work to do at home).

Today, I no longer work for anyone but myself. Friday a notice will go out that 11-01-05 will be my last day.

It feels good. Real good. :)

At 26 (as of 10-13-05), I feel I am doing pretty good. I never expected to be out on my own this soon, and I couldnt be more happy that it is happening.

Anyways, just wanted to throw that out there. It made my day. :D

Congrats. It was smart to spell out j-o-b, too. That why if they're monitoring your internet usage they won't know what you're s-a-y-i-n-g.

You should do something huge on your way out like hitting your boss in the mouth and then mooning him.

    Way to go Zman!!!

Words of wisdom from an old freelancer...start building a nest egg that you can use to invest offline (diversify!), and create a documented plan for emergencies (illness, accidents, natural disasters, etc). It never hurts to plan ahead. :)

Create a web page where the song 'take this job and shove it' plays, then on you last day set all the home pages to that page.

Excellent, was just about to tell him the say thing when I read your post ;)

Been self employed online since at least 97, although there are many extremely profitable months you may find some bad months where you'll need that extra stocked away :)

Wow zman, I'm impressed, that's the most smiley, bouncy things I've ever seen in one post. Congrats again on your milestone.

I'm sure it is, but you'd be suprised when you're used to spending $XX,XXX a month and then find yourself with incoming funds in the $X,XXX area, eats up those funds pretty quickly :)

You're in a different area than me though, so the money crunch might not be as bad nor as risky. All the luck for you, btw was checking your post out about logo design. I may be interested in the future, getting more and more lazy, farming work out when I used to swear I'd never do it!

Lazy asses like me will keep guys like you in busy for years go come :p

If you drink enough beer, even the adsense threads will crack you up.

Good to know. I will never buy you a beer. EVER
