Hi friends, I bought a vps on 8th after much hunting. The specifications : Space : 5GB [ Was originally 10GB, but I dont need and wanted to cut costs] Bandwidth : 100GB [Good enough at start] RAM : 256MB Guaranteed, 512MB burstable OS : CentOS 4.4 Minimal, Security hardened Control Panel : DirectAdmin IPs : 10 from 2 different blocks Server CPU : Celeron 2.53GHz Location : Kansas, USA Price : $16/month Code (markup): Your comments are welcome.
Agnivo, Run this benchmark on your vps and tell us the results.. # wget http://members.dslextreme.com/users/andylee/unixbench-4.1.0-wht.tar.gz # gunzip -dvc unixbench-4.1.0-wht.tar.gz | tar xvf - # cd unixbench-4.1.0-wht # make # ./Run Saad
saad, the link should be : http://members.dslextreme.com/users/andylee/unixbench-4.1.0-wht.tar.gz Code (markup): I'd run the benchmark and post the results...personally, I think it'd be fine.
oops! some files not found while running the benchmark...seems a centos minimal install is not enough for it. Anyway, I'm quite satisfied with the performance so far.
The deal isnt bad if you gettin 100GB of bandwith as well 10 IP's but how come you manage without CPanel ?
He is using DA becuase of several reasons.. Da is recommended becuase on vps if you want to run cpanel on vps you need atleast 512 mb ram for good performance! Saad
Interesting deal... I understand $10 is hosting and remaining $6 is for DA No doubt deal really sounds to good to be true. Hope shellcom.info turns out to be a reliable service provider.. Is ashagg offering you some kind of offsite backup Please do keep us updated...
hey neogen! you zeroed in on the vps provider quite easily... offsite backup is extra. Now I need some help to optimize apache and mysql...any server admins here willing to help me for a green rep ?
Well, hunted for some good tutes and advice and found the perfect settings for apache and mysql and my mem consumption is only 50-100MB now
