I applied to YPN for www.BizAmmo.com a while back and was turned down... probably b/c traffic was too low. All of a sudden, I'm suddenly accepted. That's great and all, but why? Traffic hasn't changed too much, although the alexa rank is up and click payouts with Adsense have been up a good bit. Seriously, since I changed the stupid color scheme, I've had nothing but good luck w/ this site. But is there some reason why they'd change their mind? Do they just reconsider things periodically? Also, should I actually switch? While clicks are low, payouts with Adsense went from an average of $.30-.50 / click to over $1 when they happen, so I'm a bit worried about a change. Do people seem to have better luck with YPN still? If so, I guess it won't hurt to try. I could always switch back. Also, when you're accepted to YPN, are you only able to use the ads on the main site you applied under, or can you use it on other sites too like with Adsense? Sorry... just trying to make a decision, and I've heard a lot of things on both sides about whether switching is good or not. Thanks! Jenn
from yahoo's official FAQ: also, the bottom line for revenue is what I'd use to determine which platform to go with.
Definitely give YPN a try. I haven't personally seen much of a difference but I still read people getting much better payout from YPN
Thanks. Just wasn't sure if that was allowed during beta. I suppose I'll give it a try and switch over tonight. Since I run a few subdomains there, do you think it would be better to switch one or two of them, and leave the others on Adsense just to see if there's any difference in rate per click, or would you suggest moving the whole site at once?
i would do things slowly. it may take some time for your site to target and for that targetting to stick. good luck and congratz.
depends on how much traffic. if the traffic's significant enough to be able to get detailed results, just make a simple script that rotates in the yahoo ads 50% or 25% or 5% of the time, compare the ECPM, and see which one wins.
To answer your question Yahoo SEM has started to release Panama search platform to advertisers. So they need publishers to run ads. New look to YPN front page, as well as Yahoo SEM pages, seems to indicate coming out of beta soon as well.
congrats and welcome to the YPN family. You were probably accepted now because they are finally ready for you.
Good news. I'd give YPN a try, but play around with it for a couple of weeks. My CTR is really bad (on average 1 click per 1000 impressions) but I am still making more then I made with Adsense on that site (adsense had 10 - 20 times higher ctr), even though I geotarget YPN and it gets seen less then 50% (strange, because my traffic is 90% us). I guess I need to improve my Geotargetting strategies. Anyhow, I think YPN works better than Adsense for some sites and Adsense is better on others. You have to experiment.
JH-congrats on your success with YPN... I too have been trying (with no luck ) and ive applied with various sites..some as low as a PR3 with maybe 20 uniques a day, and others with over 600 uniques and PR6...I dont get it. What do they want...anyone have any idea what the criteria is..?? thanks..
