This stuff is still required and it's for both reasons. Why make them put their information in at payment request when they can do it at the beginning? It's the same thing. Just because you had some bad experiences with other file hosts doesn't' mean EVERY FILE HOST is like that. Now, as I said before, if you don't like the service, don't join & stop commenting. Absolute rubbish I have been with many file hosts and had many affiliations and if a person is not a resident of the US then no address is required or tax info.

There are many reasons why people should not give you their address and phone number
1/ They don't know who you are.
2/ If outside the US there is no need
2/ They might on joining not be interested or take the affiliation any further
3/ That page might be used for IDENTITY THEFT

There is only one reason you do it and that's because the script you use is coded that way and can't be changed so I recommend anyone don't supply your address or phone number until your are certain it's safe to do so.
