Its true filesonic will not count downloads if we download our own files, but in PPD plan all downloads are counted so many people have started abusing PPD by downloading own uploaded files from various locations, by deleting cookies, IP etc.

In many other filehosts they consider this very serious and ban/delete/reject payments if their system catches this fraud activity, so as a precaution its always good to not download our own uploaded files.

If your using filesonic for storage purposes as gstor111 told then choose PPS plan, in this way you can download as many files from your account without any worry.

    Regards

If you download your own files occasionally, cause you need file on your hard drive, or
want to edit it or reupload, that is ok. But if you download your files excessively, in
order to scam the system and boost your earnings, that is for sure a bannable offense.

No one can have more than one filesonic account is very clearly stated in the rules,
as is that only one person can use premium account.

I heard there are some account banned for violating DMCA policy, though I figure that
would be cause of excessive number of reported and deleted files and constant reuploading,
since nearly everybody had some files deleted cause of DMCA, and are working fine.

I dont use Filesonic just for storage purposes. I am on PPD, I spread my files on various boards and they bring some money for me and Filesonic as well. Not interested in PPS so far.
All I want to say is that at some moment any uploader may face the need to DL own files due to whatsoever urgent reason.
    Example 1:
I uploaded an archive split in two parts and deleted them from my HD. A few days later I concluded that splitting in two parts is inconvinient for ppl to download, so I DLed my own parts to reup a single file later.
    Wxample 2:
One guy on some board was complaining that my split parts won't join. To give a well-reasoned resopnse I had do DL those parts on my own to check if they work for me. They did work fine, and I suggested that he probably had some local problem. It turned out later that he was using 7 Zip to unpack my rar files, that didnt work. Using winrar solved the puzle.

There can be many other cases that are not of abusive nature and have to deal with just routine uploader job.

Disabling download counts for own downloads is the simplest way out. (BTW... are you sure that Filesonic does count them or bans such users?)

In filesonic tolerance is high and they ban only on extreme cases unlike others. In other major hosts they delete account/reject payment for this only reason, they do it because file hosting sites too get affected by DMCA threats.

Currently they don't allow excessive downloading of our own files.

Here is Filesonic official's posts concerning this.

    dkp,
what you wrote is just another proof that ppl really need to DL their own files without having any fraudelent intentions.
So my opinion remains the same:
Disabling download counts for own downloads is the simplest way out.

I agree with that, sometimes i also downloading my files (like premium user of course), because i just need that files. And sometimes i test speed for free users on some of my files, but always cancel this download after a while (why i would download it like free user, if i can download it as premium).

Yes, if filesonic gave us an option to disable counter for a while or option to add certain ip addresses (our) through which we can download freely our files then such issues can be solved very easily.
