    Ah point taken here too.
Aside from the various issues, I really think, as a lot of people have already pointed out, that FS have to set up 24/7 tech support and monitoring, otherwise it may well carry on like this for a long time.
    ie
Things start going wrong on Fri afternoon....get worse over the weekend and aren't fixed until late Monday.

I'm not getting the same error as previously but using the workaround I was given before gets around the issue.
Without getting everybody's hopes up - it seems related to the watch list thing (something about the way http requests are mangled when passing through UK ISP's proxies [not a techie but I'm slowly getting the gist of things!]) so it may be fairly straightforward to modify the code they last used to overcome the problem.

Hope that makes a bit of sense.

You'll get no argument from me. Waiting for the queue to clear is one thing (and I fully expect longer queuing times during peak periods) but there is not much of an excuse for files not migrating to the file manager once they have "successfully" completed the queue.

Ideally, yes, but it would not appear FS has the staff for 24/7 tech support. I know the next argument is going to be for FS to just go out and get some new hires to fill out the schedule, but is it more important to have a body filling a time slot or someone who can actually resolve problems? Simply having bodies led to the collapse in August. It wasn't until more than a month later when FS-IT announced they had sacked the first crew and began re-writing modules from scratch that the site began to actually show improvement. Financial considerations aside for the moment, it is not worth the effort imo to add staff that is not going to do more than tell us they are aware of the problem during off hours. That is only sizzle. I'll wait for the steak.

Lol, i have to send the files manually attached to messages because ppl can`t download them... downloads doesn`t begin or are too slow (0.0xx bytes)...
But another user reported to me he is downloading with 200kb/s... so some countries doesn`t have good access to FS? (Malaysia, Vietnam, China...?)

    Status update:

    1) Stats are calculating fine for both PPD & PPS
    2) Some users from the UK cannot download. We are looking to resolve this, but, let me just say that your ISPs are not making life easy for us at all!
    3) There is queue on remote upload, but it is being processed. We somehow received thousands and thousands of RUs yesterday (from multiple users), so they will need to be processed. At some point next week, I will consider the possibility of adding more RU servers to handle more.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    FS-IT

Agree totally but that's why they need tech support 24/7 - that is- somebody either on-site or available on callout who is able to fix problems.
Think of it from a downloaders point of view....
You try to download a FS link - it doesn't work
You may try a few others or just give up there
At a push you might return the next day to see if things are working
After a while (probably a very short time) you simply ignore all FS links because they, as far as you are concerned, are just a waste of time.

Speaking from personal experience over the years I will generally try afile 5 times or so then give up - noting the hoster at the back of my mind.
If the same thing happens with the same hoster more then say half a dozen times I really don't bother even thinking about using them at all.
I may go back every few months to give it a try - but then it's one or two shots at it and I'm gone.

It's all well and good payment rates being high etc. but if the general public avoid using FS those final payments are going to be very low.

Having said that I am (sort of) optimistic about a solution being found fairly quickly.

    A last point vaugely related....
If there is some kind of promo being planned I would think it would really be an idea to wait until all the problems have been ironed out and the site is fully stable before it's run.

I see Filesonic-IT has just posted an update while I was typing this - so thanks for that I remain hopeful

Five times? You're more patient than I am. One shot and done for me. If a link does not work, I'm not re-visiting that link. This, of course, strengthens your argument from a downloader's point of view.

That said, I wasn't disagreeing with your assessment of the need for 24/7 tech support. Rather, I was questioning the viability of a truly meaningful 24/7 tech support.

Yeah this whole thing is too crazy. If you use a download manger like IDM for example and are premium then you get the "not allowed" message. However if you right click and choose "save as" then it works. Or you can use the "downthemall" download manager with firefox but you can only click one link at a time. All this is to technical and complicated and most people are not willing to go through all of that and will just simply not download from the links. I'll give this about another week and if it continues then I will switch to someone else along with my HF account like Fileserve or something. I've already made my money back from using Filesonic and then some so I don't mind moving my files somewhere else.

China is definitely not banned. We got tens of thousands of downloads from China yesterday. What error are those users getting? I'm suspecting their ISPs are putting them behind a transparent proxy like UK users.

Concerning the download issues, the only confirmed complaints I've gotten are from users who are using proxy servers (whether intentionally or because of their ISPs). If anyone else is unable to systematically download, please send me a PM. What some of you are saying about downloads 'not working' definitely doesn't match the statistics I see on my end. Downloads are higher than ever.

Well they probably are behind transparent proxies and that is their problem. I don`t know much Chinese but translator says "slow or no download. bad links." Go figure lol :)
They downloaded the file from other source... 3900 downs and counting :) lol a lot of chinese ppl.

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you sure those hits were from "people", not "bots". A large percentage of the bot abuse FS clamped down on this week came from that part of the globe. If that is "bot" traffic being blocked, FS's programming is working.

I'm getting complaints that downloads are not finishing. They are slow and they freeze and time out right before they are finished. Please check into. I have no examples right now but something has to be wrong. I'm testing one of my links right now and it's only 30 KB/s. I'll have to see if it completes also. Could be just another weekend issue.

I`m sure they are not bots. If it was an attack... those 3.7k would be 37k for hours... The file is attached to a Chinese forum thread and only Chinese ppl are downloading it.. because it`s a Chinese file lol :) They have the complains which technuttie is saying too.. incomplete, slow, bad links.
Well i hope it will be better tomorrow. But i lost the Chinese part of my auditory.
