RE: Statistics for premium sales. Question to forum
I use PPD plan so I've kinda ignored the occansional sale. But lately I get more and more sales of premium accounts. In the details I can see my link that generated the sale which I understand. But I can not figure out the info under the "Referrer". There are links to other filesonic posters in forums I have never posted in or in forums I would never even think to visit. My logical assumption would have been that this "Referrer" link would have taken me to my own post of the link associated with the sale?! Additionally under my "referrals" link (not Referrer) there is a name listed from whom I have not solicited to become one. I assume if this person starts earning I will get a share but I don't understand how it came about. Was someone just being cool or perhaps a lucky accident? Or what??
    Thanks in advance.

You're forgetting about renewals. Although your link generated the original sale, they may be downloading a file elsewhere when the time comes to re-up.

If a user opens a new affiliate account from one of your links he becomes your referral. If he earns, so will you.

Yeah, the issue of timing was you hiding in the corner waiting to re-start the compiler. All joking aside, props for taking time out of your Sunday to check on the issue. It is appreciated.

    Makes sense now. Thanks!
Was going to PM support but now that you mention renewals; I dont see a "renew your subscription" link on www.filesonic.com. I was going to use my points to see if this pushed back the expiration date but I'm not quite there yet. Any comments? Am I going blind as fast as ur going crazy?

I badly need remote upload to start working... ive had to start uploading and selling accounts for other file hosts which is annoying for me and my users as we have put so much into pushing filesonic links and in turn sell accounts - its just a slap in the face for the users who brought accounts to download my links.

Yes, you use the trade points option to extend your membership (5000 points, which is $5, for 30 days). You can do this at any time. You do not have to let the clock run all the way down on your current status.

You're looking for Hish (FileSonic-Support), not FileSonic-IT. He's usually around on Monday's starting around 14:00-15:00 GMT.

What a bunch of negative Nancys. (lol) Could just as easily be buyer's remorse as it could be fraud. Unfortunately, there is a higher percentage of folk changing their minds these days for obvious reasons. Regardless, espdekar, you had a sale which was reversed. If you look back on the referral links of your sales for the past few days, you'll find a sale for this amount/file on which you were paid. You are now being charged back as the sale was canceled.

I beg to differ (based on data) :). The rate of fraud is ridiculous. Also, it's very easy to distinguish a dispute (buyer's remorse) from a reversal (initiated for high risk reasons) using the reason codes provide by processors. I will look into this specific case with Paypal and report back to the affiliate.

Edit: just to clarify, the fraud sometime originates from the customer and not necessarily the affiliate. But there is no way to differentiate, and paying for fraudulent transactions just opens to door to disasters.

I had not intended to diminish the existence of fraudulent activity in any way. And, you are quite correct that there has shamefully been an increase of such abuse of late. Instead, I was just pointing out that not all refunds are issued due to fraud. I have that American innocent until proven guilty bit imprinted on by being, I guess.

As far as paying for fraudulent transactions, not only does it open the door to disasters, but it is financially foolish. Sure it sucks for an affiliate to see that refund stamp, but you cannot expect FileSonic to give you 60% of a sale they were not paid for, can you? Who originated the fraud is unimportant in this regard. Guilt is only important insofar as it is necessary for FileSonic to determine whether or not to suspend an account and I fully support harsh measures in this regard.
