Still no fix for me on downloads, its frustrating that the IT guys dont come on here now and respond ,because i just dont have any straight and precise answers from the regarding the problem UK downloaders are having as well as other locations. Look at some of the sites you promote filesonic, people reporting problems with downloads yet no definite answers, when will this be fixed.

Same here, had been told in a PM that they were hoping to fix it today (that was about 18hrs ago) and promised that in any case they would keep us informed on the board.

Starting to become a trifle miffed old boy

Out of curiosity i tried using a transparent proxy from Germany to download a file from filesonic and guess what,no problems at all and yet a transparent proxy from the UK gave me the same problems as usual.Sharingmatrix worked fine ,is it that the system filesonic installed or implemented in order to improve over sharingmatrix cannot handle UK transparent proxies, yet can handle others from around the world,or is it that the UK government are the only country in the world that filter file content from filehosters and other countries do not, shame on you Mr Cameron,no more downloading for you from Filesonic.

I've filled out three bug reports but to no avail. I haven't heard back from anyone nor has the problem been fixed. My problem is the manage files section does not work properly. It won't let me go beyond page 1 without totally freezing up. Has been like this for 1 week now. Also many times web uploads do not work. Please help. I don't know what else to do. Thanks.

    Hi Maverick.

Basically yeah we in the Uk are being censored....I found a diagram showing how it works but sorry can't find it at the moment but will try to explain.

This is what happens with 95% of UK ISPs...

You type an address in your browser...that sends a little magical http message (not trying to be patronising but I'm not a techhie and can't remember the precise term) to your ISP...

In a "normal" (rest of the world ) ISP this is resolved against a DNS database with some more trickery and off you trundle to the site you were looking for

In the UK before it gets to the DNS part it gets side tracked and checked against the IWF watchlist...there are a few loops involved but basically if the place you are going to is not on the IWF watchlist on you go, otherwise "computer says no" and you get a 504 or a page telling you that the site is very naughty.
Depending how your request proceeds through the various loops to check the okness of the site it may end up as appearing to the receiving site that you are coming from a different IP then you actually are (this gives rise to the problem you might have encountered with fileserve and sometimes hotfile or others where everytime you try to download as a free user the counter resets to an extended period or says "You are already downloading a file" because it appears there that you have the same IP as a few thousand other people). It also can mangle your request in otherways (but that was all gobbledegook to me) which may be the reason for the FIlesonic problems.

This should only happen with http requests but it seems now to also be used to tunnel other types of request (why doing the https thing doesn't seem to work any more).

Honestly it was so much easier to understand with the diagram.

Not a fan of Cameron at all but to be fair it's something he has inherited.

During the latter stages of the last parliament it was going to be made compulsory for all ISPs to have this software installed.

It's been up and running for quite sometime and is now pretty much on all UK ISPs and they keep adding bits on.
Some of the major problems with this is how easy it is for a site to be put on it, the fact that there is no requirement for them to be informed about it and even when removed it seems they may remain on a checklist for sometime.

You might possibly remember a few years back that wikipedia became blocked in the UK...this is the fantastic software that managed that.

Google wikipedia blocked in UK to find out more but basically somebody complained to the IWF that wiki had a photo of an album cover that was extreme pron they added wiki to the list, wiki contested it (even removed the pic) IWF wouldn't remove the list entry...uproar ensued.

So basically, depending what perspective you're looking at it, either:

    We're buggered

    or

Our wonderful government is doing a fantastic job of keeping us all safe.

Have a look over the past few pages of this thread and you'll find you're not alone.
Think they are pretty much run off their feet hence why bug reports are going unanswered.
Believe me I submitted tons before I found this thread.

Basically it seems it's a case of wait and see and hope that it all gets sorted but it is taking forever.

You can PM one of the filesonic guys from here - that at least seems to get you a reply.

I seem to remember them even blacklisting some sites which had posted the IWF logo along with unflattering articles. They also blocked Internet Archive for some time. Good luck guys.

It's something wrong that i don't get any $ from my referrals last night? :))

And one more thing, i tried to upload some of the stuff through a FTP last night and files didn't pop up in my file manager, i thought I'll have another try, so did I, but some files went to Failed some looped two times and went to Failed, some of them not :) But these files aren't showing this morning either... What to do? :D I'll try it now :) Maybe it's of high load on FTP ?

    Hi guys,

Concerning the UK download issue, we've worked on it all day today but to no avail. Your ISPs are really making it hard for us!!

However, we will spend all day tomorrow working on this as well. I promise you a solution as soon as possible. This is one of our top priorities right now - along with stabilizing remote upload.

    Thanks for your understanding,
    FS-IT

Thanks for that, top priority indeed, hopefully a solution can be found.I do hope so because i really like filesonic(despite some negative critiscm,me also included in that)the upload has been fine (a bit hit and miss at times) and remote uploads the same,(working on that also)but the one thing you can guarantee is that you pay promptly on friday and always resolves peoples problems with payments, also premium is good value, and when it was working downloads were fine and good speeds too,its just a shame the UK is probably the worst place to be to be a filesonic member (thats not your fault or mine)at the moment.Ill still recommend you to others as i do believe you will get things right and am not jumping ship to another filehoster because of some problems.Keep up the good work.
