Are you an UK user? If you are, then you need to call up your ISP and tell them they need to fix up and stop messing with our service :)

candy...You should try to go through a free proxy - These can be found all over the net - I do not know which one works specifically, but clearly they are available.

You can try to go through hidemyass.com and try to get the files, but nothing I can guarantee. You need to bug Virgin more. They have our service banned and unbanned irregularly.

    Hi

well suprise suprise just been onto Virgin Media for last half hour and guy i spoke to was very helpful.

I asked was i being routed through another server as i couldn't access this site only through a proxy, he stated no he doens't think so.

He changed my dns from auto to having me manually put in the numbers (sorry not sure what this is) and it still didn't work. Then he said i need to do a system restore as my network settings where wrong, i then said so do i need to restore all 3 of them as i have 2 pc and 1 laptop and he errr.....no dont do that we'll try somthin else. He then tried to connect using his mobile phone and he said hey the site is down, i said is your phone with virgin he said yes i said oops there u go as am on 02 and i can access fileserve on my phone.

He then went to whoever in networks to see if there are any probs and if they could access the site, so they said they would reset my connection to see if this would help.

Hey presto after after they did watever i can now access the fileserve site.

This is a strange version of events as the guy said that VM hadn't done anything but reset my connection, so i then said well i have my own ideas as to wat has happened and i then thanked VM from removing the block he just laughted and said ok we'll leave it at that then and have a nice day.

So Ricky as i suspected all along VM was blocking ur site, how can they do this and get away with it, i am paying for an 50mg unlimited service and i expect as much.

That's total bullcrap as they have done something. Surprisingly it is only VM users that have this issue at the moment and not BT, TalkTalk, O2 etc.

I do not know the ramifications of what ISPs can do in the UK, but even if you want to take it up on a legal battle, it would be a David vs. Goliath. The only way you can "hurt" them to make them understand that this is absolute nonsense that they block out websites, is to change to another ISP.

I've furthermore advised all VM users to call up their support. Hopefully that should lead them towards other thoughts of blocking users out of websites.

    Hi Ricky

Here in the uk its like bein between a rock and a hard place regarding ISP provider. Virgin Media is the only supplier of fibre optic broad band which doesn't need a telephone line to use it. So they have the monopoly at the moment, they are the only provider to offer 50mg supposed to be upcapped and unlimited downloads.

To switch to another provider my internet would be through a BT phoneline and as am quite far from the exchange i only manage to get a max of about 6mg and the connection is not stable, i know as i have tried it as i switched from Virgin Media wen i was on 20mg due to bein traffic managed it was pathetic, but then went down to a 6mg speed. When Virgin introduced the 50mg with the promise of unlimited everything i went back to them.

To say am disgusted is an understatement, as how many others is this happening to and how many actually complain to VM and how many just think oh fileserve is down for maintenence etc

Thanks for your help in the matter and for the quick response to my post

    candy,

I have to fully concur here. We're left powerless as to what can be done and can only cross fingers that users who are as proactive as yourself will take action and start giving them a bit of attitude down the phone - Hopefully it can change their mindset a little.

What's bugging about this is that it comes on and off, which means you can never predict when the access to our site won't be available.

I hope they will resolve this matter asap.

I still wonder if some of these hosts who are copying our model can sustain the cost of running in this business or if they're just here for the short-term :)

@ wildstallion: You're not having a laugh, no?
